OHANA GARDENS
We are a small family-based company in Santa Clara, Utah, with a passion for gardening and good, healthy eating. We have lived and worked in southern Utah since moving from Hawaii in 1989. Ohana Gardens began in 1995 when our family decided to offer extra produce from our garden for sale to the public. Through the years we have found great satisfaction in growing food for ourselves and others. People began to ask us for gardening advice, and from that grew opportunities to speak to groups about vegetable gardening. We now teach various classes on gardening and have developed a year-round planting schedule for our climate.
After relocating from Hawaii, we would often get requests to put on luaus, and that is how we got involved in the catering business. Our typical menu includes items like teriyaki chicken, kalua pork, and guava cake.
Wendy, the principal gardener, obtained a bachelor's degree from BYU and has continued to study and learn about gardening over the years as a hobby. She is a Master Gardener, and also serves on the Santa Clara City Shade Tree Committee and Santa Clara City Heritage Commission. She is currently secretary of the Dixie Garden Club.
Husband Herb is also a BYU grad, a self-employed recreation consultant, Santa Clara City councilman, and real estate manager. We have six children and eight grandchildren. We love our community and love being able to live the good life in a small town that is rich in history, good neighbors, and great opportunities.
